(Savannah Speed) help me a lot. In the beginning I was concerned that it would be hard for me to improve because the coach was four hours away from me but I was quickly shown the distance doesn't matter and that my coach, Coach Kevin was willing to put every bit of energy he had to make sure I improved the way I need to. He would send me texts and emails about the work out. Call me before and after each workout to check up on how it was going. With me not living in Savannah and being four hours away I couldn't ride with the team to the meets, I would have to drive myself or my parents would take me. The coaches were so awesome about the distance; they would call me to make sure I was safe on the road no matter what time. If I had to get up at 4am they were up by 5am calling to see if I was awake and okay.
The team welcomed me with open arms. It sucked a little that I never got to practice with them but I love competing beside them being able to encourage them, and them doing the same for me. Coach Kevin helped me a lot off the track also. He checked on me through high school to make sure that my grades were always good. If I had a problem with anything he always seemed to know; he would call and say, "I got a feeling something not right, what's up?" He was more than a track coach to me; he was more like a father figure because he was always there to help when I need it. If I had any problems I knew I could call him no matter what time it was. Thanks to (Savannah Speed) and Coach Kevin I got to attend University of Mount Olive in North Carolina which I'm so proud to be a part of the Trojan family. My new teammates and coaches are amazing and even better I'm only an hour away from Coach Kevin now. He is a wonderful man and I wouldn't replace him with anyone in the world.
